Tamatert Guesthouse is set in the vallet above Imlil surrounded by breathtaking mountains of the high Atlas, including Jebel Toubkal (Morocco’s highest mountain). By day the mountains and the apple blossoms by dusk the warming sound of a world of crickets plays out on your ears, by night the sky sparkles with more stars than your eyes can behold. Mohammed’s familly are warm and welcomng and cannot do enough to make sure your stay is a pleasant one. During our stay Mohammed arranged a guiuded walk for us through and over the surrounding mountains passing through 4 or 5 Berber mountain villages on the way. We stopped in one village for mint tea and food,…there we tasted the best Tagine we had the whole time we were in Morocco. As it was friday prayer was longer than usual and to hear the call resonating on the mountain walls created a feeling of tranquility and wonder. The first night we stayed in one of the rooms, snug somfortable and cleam. The building is newly refurbished in a traditional Moroccon style and has been charmingly done. The second two nights we had booked to sleep on the roof but as the night was cold the family let us sleep in the magnificent spacious upstairs lounge. We would definately like to return and would highly recommend a stay here. We owe Mohammed and his family a BIG thank you.

Our stay here in Imlil was simply wonderful. the staff at the guesthouse was extremely accommodating and very friendly. the meals we were served were beyond our imagination and completely satisfying every time. the property is surrounded by breathtaking mountains and a picturesque village. We climbed Toubkal and spent a few days at basecamp before returning to Tamatert. i highly recommend this guesthouse and area for anyone interested in climbing Toubkal or just spending a few days in a Moroccan mountain town. The first night we stayed in one of the rooms, snug somfortable and cleam. We were welcomed into this charming house and shown into a wonderful sitting room with an open fire and fresh mint tea. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious. The bed was comfortable, the shower room nicely fitted out, the view of North Africa’s highest mountain, Toubkal, amazing! Just the day before we had been in the Sahara and now there was snow. Definitely plan to return. We would definately like to return and would highly recommend a stay here. We owe Mohammed and his family a BIG thank you.

“A most wonderful stay in a lovely house with a great position”

We were a group of 6 and had the ground floor all to ourselves. We loved our stay here, all is very quiet, and Mohhamed even let us choose the rooms we wanted to sleep in. For only 150 dirhams per person we also had breakfast and dinner included, and both are very filling. We could say our preferences for dinner and the home-made couscous and tajines were the best we had. There was no hot water while we were there, but to be honest, the weather was so hot we didn’t need it. There were also spaces to park our cars, free of charge obviously. All in all, it was the best place we stayed in in Morocco.

“Great guesthouse”

Coming from warm Marakkech at 28-10-2014 we went to Imlil with a Koning Aap-group Belgian and Dutch people and our great guide Laura Catania. High in the mountains it turned out to be a little colder… We were directly invited in a very cosy room where Mohamed was busy making a fire in the stove. In a very short time, while the warmth spread through the room, the family Imerhane served us a very nice Moroccan meal. The view from the roof terrace next to this room is breathtaking! The walk afterwards with Hamid was great. “You will sleep like a baby” Hamid said. We really did! Stayed October 2013, travelled with friends All in all, it was the best place we stayed in in Morocco.

“You like mountains and great hospitality – come to Imlil”

A 10 night stay proved ideal for a hiking/study visit, with great proximity to all walking routes and local ammenities. The price allowed flexibility to our trip, with an unpredicted surplus for a well deserved weekend in Marrakech. Mohamed (our main contact) boasted fluid communication prior and throughout our stay providing transfers to and from Marrakech, any domestic services needed and frequent conversations about our visit, local life and the on-going period of Ramadan. Highly recommended for a easy, cheap, friendly and comfortable retreat for passers by, or more experienced visitors/walkers. Many thanks to Mohamed and friends.

This Riad is an excellent place to start your High Atlas Moutains visit. Good food, large rooms and a nice view from the terrace. Mohamed Imerhane is a fine host and guide who can help you to plan your all your guided trips. It is also possible to travel to the other parts of Maroc.

Far away from the busy Imlil Centre (a 25 minutes uphill walk!) we found this very quiet Guesthouse. Large rooms, no humbug, good beds, good shower. And in Hassan we met the perfect host. The maroccan food is very good. And so is the Wifi.

From the start Mr Mohamed was fantastic, a very good host who was relaxed, helpful and welcoming . The guest house is set upin the mountains, with the most amazing view of the mountains. We sat down to a wonderful meal after a walk around the mountains at sunset. I highly recommend this guesthouse and remeber to bring a jumper as its much cooler in the mountainsThe maroccan food is very good. And so is the Wifi.

Unlike most visitors to this incredibly beautiful spot in the Atlas Mountains (right at the foot of Mt Imlil, one of the highest points in Morocco), I have not come here as a tourist but as a family member with concerns on my mind about my Moroccan goddaughter, with whom I am setting up a European/Moroccan cultural exchange project. Let’s just say I came over at a time of considerable stress with a lot of problems to sort out. But the owner Mohamed, head cook Hassan and their staff have taken me straight to their Berber hearts & treated me like a member of the family, always supplying me with plentiful breakfasts and delicious Tagines and making a wonderful fire every night to warm my bones. More than that, they were right there beside me when the problems started mounting and threatening to get out of control, really helping me prevent them from becoming overwhelming and developing into a crisis. I am so happy that I’ve had a chance to see this incredible beauty spot for myself, but... without their help, far from appreciating it, I could have found myself sinking beneath a whole raft of seemingly insurmountable problems! It’s people like Mohamed & his staff that opened my heart to the genuine & warm Berber people of Morocco in the first place, I am so grateful they have renewed my faith & can’t recommend this place highly enough. (It also has some amazing views as you may see from some of the pictures I have taken.)
